Subj : newspaper was: moving or not 1/2 To : Barry Martin From : Nancy Backus Date : Wed Feb 05 2020 02:02:14 -=> Quoting Barry Martin to Daryl Stout on 30-Jan-2020 15:38 <=- BM> reminds me of years ago the Iowa-side newspaper wanted everyone to go BM> with a digital subscription -- and somehow was also delivering the paper BM> version, forgot the details but they increased the price substancially. BM> The digital option has advantages but here the paper option is easier. BM> We ended up cancelling and they lost, us and a lot of other BM> subscribers. Same thing happened here... Both my next-door neighbor and I were long-time subscribers to the local paper... Suddenly the price jumped maybe half-again or more.... and their rationale was that they'd added lots of digital content, so the paper was worth lots more... Unfortunately, she was on a limited income, and didn't even have (or even expect to ever have) a computer, let alone do anything online... And when I called to inquire about if there was any other option, for those who couldn't access the digital, I was told, nope, that's just the way it is... So they ended up losing two customers, as I wasn't interested in having to pay for that digital subscription along with my paper delivery.... Even with a computer, and access, I wasn't into reading my news online at all.... ttyl neb .... *All taglines are busy...
