Subj : PING Question To : Nancy Backus From : Barry Martin Date : Wed Jan 01 2020 08:51:00 Hi Nancy! BM>> I've been toying with the idea of using a monitor and probably sound BM>> bar to replace the next TV - - would have to check if less expensive BM>> and how to control the sound remotely. Watching live TV can be done BM>> through MythTV. NB>> Something to explore... it could be less expensive, or it might NB>> end up more so, depending on the components.... :) BM> If the price is essentially the same wouldn't matter if slightly more BM> expensive -- how much more at this point isn't defined as I don't have BM> any prices to begin with . One of the more main yes-or-no's would be BM> the sound level (volume) control. Don't really want another remote BM> control, so control via the existing remote or a universal remote, and BM> even while that is one unit prefer not to have to tap a selector BM> switch (the TV - Cable Box - DVD - etc. one). ...OTOH my consideration BM> if for using a monitor and they don't generally come with remotes. BM> ...May have just resolved that little problem! NB> Sounds like still a lot of factors to sort through... ;) Yes. Another project for later. What's strange is one or two coputers around here I can control the sound level to the monitor/TV with the keyboard, which would solve the problem. Most I can't, so that is the problem. From the "Took a Quick Look Department" isn't the motherboard brand not a configuration I did of the OS. NB>> ... Coughing and sneezing? Maybe tiny fanged snails are eating NB>> your brain. BM> They're spitting out the bad parts?! NB> Dunno... probably just leaving them to fester.... and your body NB> is trying to rid itself of them.... ;) The horrors of looking through pathology texts! ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® ....
