Subj : PING Question To : Nancy Backus From : Barry Martin Date : Sat Dec 21 2019 09:39:00 Hi Nancy! BM> Still snowing out there! NB> And here it's sunny... ;) Here today is the shortest day of the year.... BM>>> Yes...... We had an idiot cannon-ball on to one of the display BM>>> beds at the bedding department of the store. Was just a mattress on a BM>>> plywood frame; frame was smashed. I was arguing the guy should pay BM>>> for the replacement as willful destruction but management wimped out. NB>>> They probably didn't want to deal with his protestations about how'd NB>>> he have known that it wasn't a full bed instead of just a mockup... NB>>> maybe that's the way he tests the beds at a furniture store.... BM>> Maybe. As I recall it was something about customer relations, blah- BM>> blah-blah. I countered with we don't need that kind of destructive BM>> customer. (The 'customer' was long gone.) NB>> Did he ever come back to shop at the store....? And had he bought any NB>> bedding when he was there...? ;) BM> No idea on the return. AFAIK he didn't buy anything and not sure he BM> even intended to buy anything. (Not to be interpreted as intending to BM> cannonball something and leave -- people can just browse.) NB> Yup... he might have been browsing, and then the uncontrolable NB> urge to cannonball onto the bed simply seized him.... ;) Some people and their urges...... BM> I've been toying with the idea of using a monitor and probably sound BM> bar to replace the next TV - - would have to check if less expensive BM> and how to control the sound remotely. Watching live TV can be done BM> through MythTV. NB> Something to explore... it could be less expensive, or it might NB> end up more so, depending on the components.... :) If the price is essentially the same wouldn't matter if slightly more expensive -- how much more at this point isn't defined as I don't have any prices to begin with . One of the more main yes-or-no's would be the sound level (volume) control. Don't really want another remote control, so control via the existing remote or a universal remote, and even while that is one unit prefer not to have to tap a selector switch (the TV - Cable Box - DVD - etc. one). ...OTOH my consideration if for using a monitor and they don't generally come with remotes. ...May have just resolved that little problem! NB> ... Coughing and sneezing? Maybe tiny fanged snails are eating NB> your brain. They're spitting out the bad parts?! ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® ....
