NB>>> Like my tagline of days attacking at once, it seems weeks have ganged NB>>> up on him to attack all at once... Sometimes a small project at a NB>>> time just doesn't seem to be accomplishing anything those times... BM>> Right. Daryl seemed to be overwhelmed by the large project (I have to BM>> clean the room) so I tried suggesting to take it as a bunch of small BM>> projects. A dresser drawer may be too small, up to him. Idea was to BM>> attack the job differently so less overwhelming. NB>> Sometimes that can help, sometimes not... :) I take it you are able to NB>> be in ongoing contact with him, then...? BM> Yes, Daryl has been e-mailing me. Sometimes he's in pretty good BM> spirits, sometimes not, and can change within the e-mail (not too BM> surprising as even through I'm reading as one sitting could be BM> interrupted and so done as several time frames). NB> I'm glad he still has part of his support network... :) As to NB> the change of spirits within an email, it might also be one NB> sitting, just having the overwhelm come over midstream.... Quite possibly: too much in the realization. Could also be over a longer period that what appears on the surface: took a break/inrterrupted by a phone call and what reads as a few minutes passge is in reality a few hours. BM> Last issue was the person who was supposed to pick up his late mother's BM> clothes possibly could be backing out; good news is he did find an BM> alternative. And for whatever reason the Little Rock Salvation Army BM> doesn't have a truck to pick up donations; local one to me does, not BM> sure about local Goodwill, DAV/Disabled American Veterans does. NB> Hope it all gets worked out nicely for him... The donation trucks NB> might just be busier this time of year, too... Not sure what we NB> have here, haven't needed them.... Daryl has indicated his centers of choice don't have trucks at all. Here I know the Salvation Army, Goodwill and DAV (Disabled American Veterans) do, but just because something occurs here doesn't mean it occurs elsewhere. And of course vice versa. The good news is someone has been able to help him dispose of items. NB>>>>> If they are boxed, they'd still be not too hard to wrap, though... BM>>>> These were sold without cartons. Have seen (and received) boxed solar BM>>>> lights. NB>>>> So find boxes for them, and make your wrapping easier... or stuff them NB>>>> in a large Christmas-themed shopping bag with lots of tissue paper to NB>>>> cover them... ;) BM>>> Yes, I'll figure out something. Or since it's a requested gift and BM>>> they know what they're getting other than the specific style just put BM>>> something fun/festive/holiday-weird-but-appropriate over the solar BM>>> light head. NB>>> That could work, too... :) BM>> Since then haven't even thought of packaging ideas. NB>> Unless you want to just get them done and set aside, there's not NB>> really a rush yet... ;) BM> No, but getting there: the Family Christmas is this Saturday (December BM> 14th). NB> And now it's already happened... or didn't the weather cooperate NB> after all...? Weather cooperated: cold but not bone-chilling. Dinner came out nicely. Minor problem initially with the turkey: had purchased one with the pop-out thermometer. Well, the thermometer itself had popped out! More looked like never inserted in to the breast but there was a little tear in the skin where it seems like it should have gone. Good news was the thermometer was found in the bottom of the overwrap so just stuck it in. Oh, as for the wrapping of the solar lights, took some paper towel tubes and inserted them over the stake portion. Loosely wrapped gift wrap over the top (lighted) portion and twisted and so sort of looked like the fancy wrapped Christmas candies. BM>> Autumn is into drawing and I somewhat expect her to continue as her BM>> mother is artistic, so pens, pencils, coloured pens and pencils, BM>> supplies, etc., will probably be easy gifts. I have a holder with a BM>> variety of coloured pens, markers and highlighters -- yes, slightly BM>> colourblind but I still colour code! Autumn uses those when she BM>> brings up her sketch pad. NB>> That's handy, then... :) Even slightly colorblind, you probably NB>> see the colors as being somewhat different from each other.... BM> Yes: glancing at the holder there happens to be a pink marker and a BM> pink highlighter next to each other: close but definitely different cap BM> colours. NB> And as long as the colors are different when used, you'd still be NB> able to distinguish between them, I'd guess... Yes, though the missing detail is one set is a marker and the other highlighters. I think when I got the markers they were out of stock of the highlighters, plus tired of shopping (five minutes is more than enough! ) and so got the markers thinking they'd work as highlighters. Well, they do highlight on the page but tend to obliterate the text! Was thinking of giving them to Autumn but won't: keep them up here and when Autumn wants to come up and visit/change of scenery she has the coloured markers, highlighters and pens to draw with. BM>> OK, seems like you've got things checked out and won't need to update. BM>> Here the TracFones piggyback on Verizon and they are dropping -- BM>> whatever the old is. NB>> Just as well that my current cellphone is TracFone with AT&T, then... NB>> the last one was using Verizon.... BM> The only problem might be if you roam into an area only served by BM> Verizon. I'm thinking that's now extremely rare. (Back in my cell BM> phone selling days at the store we originally warned our customers BM> because the Williamsburg IA area was roaming; no big deal other than BM> there is a large shopping center there. For whatever reason the BM> original carrier couldn't get an agreement in that area; has been BM> taken care of since.) NB> It seems that in most areas now the carriers have made agreements NB> to service each other's customers, or allow use of their tower NB> for the other carrier... Yes. I don't know who much roaming occurs now. I sort of figure if I need to use the cell phone I need to use it regardless of the credits/units being withdrawn. Of course I'm not using the phone just to watch videos or listen to music, etc. No idea on the tower arrangements now. Know used to be one would get good reception on the back deck or front sidewalk so drive along and see people pacing along the sidewalk, etc. You might remember last summer a tower collapsed on top of a bank building here. (The tower was on the roof of the building.) I never heard of whose tower, nor any service interruptions/issues. ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® ....
