Subj : food, etc... To : Nancy Backus From : Barry Martin Date : Mon Nov 11 2019 09:54:00 Hi Nancy! NB>>>> And if I weren't answering so much later, the thread wouldn't be so NB>>>> hard to remember, either... ;) BM>>> One reason for overquoting. (The other being laziness!!) NB>>> It's not overquoting if it's needed to keep context... The NB>>> only recordkeeping I'm doing is the messages themselves... BM>> Plus in the old days everyone used dial-up and there were BM>> no discounts, so the less old message portion sent back and forth the BM>> less the telephone bill was at the end of the month. NB>> But one still needed to leave enough in to make what followed NB>> understandable... :) BM> True: sometimes got rather confusing in the old days with multiple BM> people when too much snippage. NB> I still see that, where everything is snipped except maybe a line NB> or so, and it's hard to remember what the context was.... NB> generally not in threads I'm actually involved in, so just a NB> minor annoyance... :) I've kept some messages (right now thinking from the MythTV conference -- threads I'm directly involved in but of potential interest later) and generally to much quoting but occasionally just a line and so possibbly not enough for me to remmeber what that was supposed ot be ablut if I need to refer back months later. ...I'll occasionally edit my copy but usually don't. Would be a lot of wasted toner and paper if needed to print out but if just an electonic copy no big deal. If I need a hard copy will either edit then and print, just print sections, or sometimes create my own copy and do the editing to that one. BM>>> Haven't had to weed it lately: weeds think it's too cold and not BM>>> enough daylight! NB>>> A benefit of it being fall, turning towards winter... ;) BM>> Though there were plenty of weeds to remove. Now looks like they'll BM>> be staying until next year. (Like that is a super-concern to me: BM>> running out of weeds.) NB>> The only problem being that if the weeds get their roots too well NB>> established, they'll be even more of a nuisance next year.... BM> Agree, though with the current weather conditions can't do to much BM> about that. Even when pulling weeds and able to 'get the roots' seemed BM> like enough had been been left to allow the weed to re-establish BM> easily. Or just a new weed in the old spot. Guess helps to keep me BM> from being too bored next year! NB> I suppose so... ;) Not going to be weeding in the snow! NB>>>> The good thing about the change of seasons... things get less NB>>>> intense all around... :) BM>>> I don't know about that: they're adding the wind chill factor more and BM>>> more lately! Will get really intense in a couple of months!! NB>>> OK, a different sort of intense, anyway.... ;) And yes, with the NB>>> temps dropping and the wind picking up, there is that wind chill NB>>> factor to worry about.... BM>> And now add snow to that! NB>> So far only for you... not me, yet... ;) BM> You'll get yours! NB> So far just a little bit... likely to change, tomorrow, though... NB> we shall see... And are you getting any of this predicted NB> storm....? Right now still snowing and there was a gust of wind blowing snow off the roof so looked worse than it actually is. Probably around 2" now -- LIS won't go outside to shovel until the snow has stopped in anout an hour. If had to go some place or was a deeper snow would be shovelling. ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® ....
