Now you NB>> should be getting a relatively steady stream... with gaps just NB>> for days I get too busy to write messages... ;) BM> That'll work! NB> And so it has turned out.... :) Breaks and pauses are good. :) BM>>> Some of the deals are better before Black Friday, or repeated a few BM>>> weeks later. NB>>> Especially true lately... I've seen a number of stores that make a NB>>> deal of having super sales ahead of time, now... BM>> Part of it is if they can grab the consumer's money now a competitor BM>> can't get it later. NB>> Exactly... or at least that's the theory... :) BM> True. All kinds of holes in it: some people thrive on the last-minute BM> shopping, same as others thrive on the Day After Thanksgiving madness BM> -- err, excitement. And I'll admit to being one of those who doesn't BM> always plan ahead that well: not "oh, tomorrow's Christmas?" but I BM> don't do the shopping for Christmas during the 4th of July sales BM> either. And yes, I have started Christmas shopping; there are a couple BM> of boxes here so actually shopped, not just considered. :) NB> I used to watch for things to go on sale throughout the year... NB> but not avidly... now we don't need to get nearly so many things NB> for Christmas (practically none at all, actually), so I don't NB> worry about it at all anymore... :) Same here. The various adults don't really need anything, just nice to give (and get) a little something. Daughters semi-hinted at winter/ Christmad-themed solar lights for outside so they're getting those. (A little hard to disguise when wrapping!) As for not buying an item on sale - . Some items are never on sale, or the sale price is 'insignificant' at a dollar or two. Not advocating throwing away money, but sometimes not worth waiting for a sale. BM>>> And some shoppers really enjoy the excitement of the crowds, etc. BM>>> I was almost always scheduled for opening, I think because management BM>>> knew I'd be there, plus could handle issues without needing BM>>> management. There was definitely a unique excitement in the air! NB>>> And perhaps the shoppers at your store were a bit better behaved NB>>> than those at some stores.... :) BM>> I don't recall anything like the fistfight over the last chair like BM>> OfficeMax had! A bit of minor nastiness but nothing to that degree. NB>> Sales like that do tend to bring out the aggressive behaviours... NB>> I figured out a long time ago that the bargain wasn't worth the NB>> aggravation in my book... ;) BM> Bargains are nice but 99% of the time not worth fighting over. Sure BM> it's perfect for Uncle Ned, just as perfect for the other person's BM> Uncle Jed. "Call the other store" isn't going to work as the other BM> store is also busy and probably have a fight of some sort going on too. NB> Exactly, and probably... ;) In a perfect world.... BM> (And I will admit most people were decent if not nice; just more fun BM> to talk about the quirks.) NB> Yup... and they tend to be more memorable as well.... "Dear Diary, Today nothing unusual happened and I was bored out of my skull!" BM>> And think some time ago I wrote about the guy who was getting a little BM>> nasty about not being able to get a shopping cart; only thing I could BM>> do was give him a $5 coupon, which calmed him down and he was placated. NB>> At least that worked... :) You'd think that people would expect that NB>> things like shopping carts might be in short supply, and that there NB>> would be way too many people crowding the place... but, I know, common NB>> sense doesn't prevail at times like that.... ;0 BM> I was a little surprised the coupon calmed him down so fast. Maybe BM> just the fact he got something because normally he got nothing? Before BM> giving him the coupon I did respond about the limited number of carts BM> and the reply was stuck on we should have more. (He's lucky: the BM> store was designed _not_ to have shopping carts [!]. When we got them BM> in we had to create a space by the entries for the cart corrals.) NB> Even grocery stores, that ARE designed for having shopping carts, NB> don't always have enough for an overflow of customers.... ;) Right. Carts are an expense so don't want to have them collecting dust for that once a year rush. OTOH we went to Lowe's the other day and they have wheat seems like more carts thn they could possibly need if every customer took two on Black Friday. NB> ... Renegade Tagline!! We're tired of Being Kidnapped!!! NB> REBEL!!!!! But that shows the desirability! ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® .... Freeware. No fee. No taxes. No royalties.
