All she has now is the plates... but she is going to see if she can get a hangtag as well... She'd thought that it was a short term thing (like the temp tags), but I told her that they are for something like 8 years, and are pretty much automatically renewed, only have to go in and pick up a new one... BM> but did find in Iowa on can get a sticker for the regular license plate BM> if they don't want a disability plate. Goes in the lower right of the BM> rear plate (IIRC new plates are issued once every ten years). Lower BM> left is the annual registration sticker. Front plate is just there. That's a nice setup too, then.... :) BM> OK, apparently can have plate plus hangtag: BM> Multiple permits BM> - Persons with disabilities plates may be issued to all vehicles BM> titled in the person's name with a disability. Looks like... and the official request form is where I think I remember seeing the option to get both as well as either/or.... :) NB>> Mine generally resides in the glove compartment... BM> I think I put mine on the passenger seat as generally I was driving BM> alone, or if a passenger moved it to the center console's 'container'. BM> (The container thing isn't too large so the tag had to be shoved in.) I've seen things advertised to tuck it up behind the visor.... and swing it down when ready to use.... But usually the glove compartment is the best place for me... I'd rather not leave it out in the open if it isn't actually in use... sometimes one finds a spot that works just as well that isn't designated, but one doesn't want to have the car broken into just to steal the tag, either... NB>>> Backup cameras don't show you what's coming from the left and right NB>>> around those behemoths, though.... just what's behind you... the NB>>> rentals I've used have had them... :) BM>> I knew the older cameras did not show side views, thought the new ones BM>> were starting to. If probably legit then run the plate: the plate BM> information should have whether allowed to have a handicap ID. Except, the ID's registered to a person not the plate, unless the plate itself is the handicap sort.... More likely just to accept the plate or sticker or tag at face value.... :) BM>> https://whotv.com/2019/09/02/blackout-buzz-iowa-dot-offering-convienent BM>> -way-to-get-new-popular-license-plates/ According to that news BM>> articles there are two other states with similar plates.
