Subj : Stormy To : Daryl Stout From : Barry Martin Date : Wed Oct 16 2019 17:28:00 Hi Daryl! BM>There are good points and bad points to all seasons (as well as BM>everything else). I prefer cool over heat: easier for me to get BM>comfortable when I'm not sweatin'. OTOH I do like the challenge BM>(briefly, please!) and the change of pace. BTW, has been juuuust above BM>freezing here the last few mornings. ...Bit of chit-chat on the local BM>news as part of the segue into the weather. One was warming up their BM>car, then went out and discovered they had forgotten to turn the heater BM>on! DS> And, it's time to warn folks to NOT start their cars to warm DS> them up, and leave them unattended. Thugs seeing running cars can DS> break in, and drive off with them. Yes, and I was a hare surprised one didn't make the comment on that detail. BM>Probably depends on the type of tree as well as the tree itself. When BM>we had trees here on the lot (had to be cut down because they died) the BM>maple in the back yard had a lot of greenish leaves late in the season, BM>sometimes late November. And yes, it would drop them on to the snow. DS> The wind tends to take the leaves off as well. Though some leaves hang one tenaciously! Have had some rather nasty storms and expect to wake up with nothing but tree branches and still there are dead leaves on the trees. BM>Bird Viewing Rule #1: Never look up at a bird! DS> Or you better have eye protection. :P Better be more than just the eye! BM>OK thanks -- on the next page of the calendar and not that important BM>other than we'll waste that hour gained resetting all the clocks around BM>the house. DS> I set very few clocks around here. I keep hearing of a bill in DS> Congress that would put the entire country on DST, year round. DS> But, I think all the crap about impeachment and next years DS> elections, will take priority. They have no desire to do anything DS> else. We have a 'collection', a few of which are getting into the antique category. Quite a few are wind-up so no automatic resetting. As for the standardizing to DST, guess that would be fine; to me the need to adjust time for better use of the sunlight to light the workplace is well beyond the need, especially as most people work in windowsless places anyway. As for the politics, sort of reminds me of a dog who is concentrating solely on a bone, blind to the rest of the goings-on around. ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® ....
