Subj : moving or not was: CFBBS To : Nancy Backus From : Barry Martin Date : Sat Aug 31 2019 08:45:00 Hi Nancy! NB>> This batch done Sat 24 Aug in the afternoon... BM> Oh-oh! You're getting caught up!! NB> That is, after all, the plan... Yes, I suppose it is.... NB>> I have one vegetarian friend that I regularly NB>> go out to lunch with... we just pick places where she can get NB>> something that suits her, and she doesn't mind watching me eat meat, NB>> so we both are happy.... :) BM> Right. I've made (and had) salads which are very tasty and filling, BM> don't have a speck of meat in them, and are very satisfying. Did I BM> miss the meat? No. As for going to a restaurant serving options BM> enjoyable by all, generally not too difficult. Probably not a good BM> idea to go to a rib joint, but otherwise.... NB> Likewise, most fast food places don't have good options for NB> vegetarians, either... but then I don't usually eat there NB> anyway.... ;) Cooking - vegetarian or otherwise - does take some thought and preparation, which takes time. Fast food is designed to be fast (wow! ) and so takes cooking shortcuts like frying (dunk in oil) and using ingredients which cook quickly. Not necessarily a bad thing -- at the 'frying' I was thinking Fried Chicken -- but as always too much is eventually harmful. NB> My friend doesn't like the taste of meat, NB> including chicken... and most Chinese places think nothing of NB> adding chicken broth to veggie dishes, and don't even notice NB> doing it... so they'll swear it's safe, and then she tastes the NB> chicken... so we don't go to Chinese with her... :) Indian works NB> well, as does Ethiopian, or Lebanese/MiddleEastern... :) I would suppose there's some sort of a chemical reaction occurring in your friend which makes the taste of meats bad. Thinking along the lines of how some people react to MSG. As for absent-mindedly dumping in chicken broth, can see that: not a good thing for your friend, but probably "needs liquid" so "reach for broth" and never think of the chicken or whatever animal it was derived from. NB>>>>> ... You can't have your Kate, and Edith, too. BM>>>> Even if a Mormon? NB>>>> Well.... maybe then... but the mainliners there have moved away NB>>>> from that, pretty much, as I understand it.... it being illegal NB>>>> in this country.... :) BM>>> True; maybe saw the tagline. BM>>> ... Do you know the punishment for bigamy? Two mothers-in-law. NB>>> That might deter some.... ;) BM>> Some mothers-in-laws are pretty cool. Others just plain icy! NB>> Mine was actually pretty wonderful... :) BM> Mine was nice also; unfortunately didn't get to really meet her as was BM> in the the early stages of Alzheimer when first met. NB> That's a shame... It seemed to be. From the stories she was a fun person. NB> ... I hate it when I die from not passing on chain mails. And now it's phone calls! ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® ....
