Subj : Stormy To : Nancy Backus From : Barry Martin Date : Sat Aug 24 2019 11:51:00 Hi Nancy! BM> While I was gone it did get into the low 100's; a few days later BM> Vienna did have a hot spell in the 90's. Unusually hot for them; BM> usually just into the 80's. NB> I did hear that Europe was having extremely hot weather for NB> them... we've had highs in the mid to high 80s here, earlier this NB> week, but starting today we have a nice shift to highs in the 70s NB> and lows in the sleepable 50s... and a lot less humidity NB> finally... :) Yes, similar here: nice to be able to shut off the air conditioning! Highs the latter half of the week into the very low 80's and overnight into the 50's. Supposed to continue into next week. :) Looks like abolt ten degrees warmer for the Vienna forecast. BM>>> Actually doing a little bit of 'transposing' with the music currently BM>>> on my Pandora station. Bit of slow country-western - do a little BM>>> mental alteration and 'overdub' to a quartet sound. NB>>> That's an interesting concept.... BM>> I think if I had a suitable background so I could communicate my ideas BM>> I would have had some fun with altering music. NB>> You might find playing around with a synthesizer fun... electronically NB>> changing sounds and all... :) BM> If I had music-playing ability I might find it interesting. Have BM> heard some 'radically different' interpretations of popular and some BM> more classical/traditional pieces and sort of marvel at how they came BM> up with the altered version. NB> It might be mostly the work of the electronics... I don't really NB> know all that much about the nuts and bolts of it myself... I'm NB> more into the original instruments, myself... :) I tend to go more with the original also though there are some modifications have caught my attention. And some which have elicited a "what did you do that for?!". BM>> Good description! I can somewhat come up with bits and pieces of BM>> deliberately annoying mental sound bytes. Yes, based on what you said BM>> I can also half come up with a movie scene of two people getting on BM>> each other's nerves with one repetively drumming on the table. NB>> You aren't far off.... It was used, btw, in a movie where it was NB>> suppposed to be sexy/sensuous... haven't seen the movie, though, so I NB>> don't know how effective it was.... BM> And of course what was thought to be sexy 'back then' is now thought BM> to be rather mundane now. OTOH I prefer leaving things to the BM> imagination as opposed to the overly graphic presentations. NB> I'm thinking it probably wasn't too awfully graphic... the name NB> of the movie was "10", IIRC... Ah! "Bo Derek" is about all I remember; didn't see. NB>>>> Finally... one can get into the proper patterns for gardening and NB>>>> yardwork.... :) BM>>> I don't know: now too cold! (That 52ø this morning.) NB>>> Just put a sweater on.... ;) You'll warm up soon enough doing NB>>> the work... ;) BM>> And now almost too hot to do anything. Wait to cut the yard, etc., BM>> until the dew dries - by that time too hot! NB>> Spoken like a veteran procrastinator... But with valid NB>> justification all the same.... ;) BM> Hmmm: 'justifiable procrastination'! :) I see no reason to do BM> potenial harm to myself if I can avoid it. And sometimes BM> waiting/delaying has resulted in a better outcome. Sometimes, not BM> always. NB> Yup. Been there, too... ;) Current 'big project' is trimming out the dead in the Burning Bush in the back corner. Portions had died last Spring -- more from the cold Winter though all the rain in the Spring probably didn't help. Also appears there are two shrubs mixed together - hadn't noticed before though sort of explains why some portions turned red in the Fall. ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® ....
