Subj : Drinking And More To : Daryl Stout From : Barry Martin Date : Sat Aug 24 2019 11:51:00 Hi Daryl! BM> DS> I would've been, had I still not had any. But, they are BM> DS> hereditary, and once you've had one, you're subject to having BM> DS> more. BM>'Hereditary' or 'genetic'? Agree if had once will more than likely have BM>them again. DS> Not sure which was the better choice of words. But, with my DS> mind spinning faster than an EF-5 tornado the last 2 weeks, in DS> the aftermath of my urinary bladder stone surgery, plus my Mom's DS> death and funeral, I'm surprised I know which was is up anymore. Opposite direction things fall! BM>I'm in the phase currently of coffee in the morning and then iced water BM>the rest of the day. Pretty much my base routine. Winter I'll add hot BM>tea - last winter was usually green tea but have had regular and BM>flavoured teas. Past years have added some flavourings to my water: BM>plop in a tea bag (green or flavoured), dash of lemon juice. I haven't BM>looked for flavoured waters. DS> I never acquired a taste for coffee. I used to drink ice tea DS> and Gatorade by the bucketful. When I see the urologist in a DS> surgery followup next week, I'm going to try to find out what I DS> can eat and drink that won't give me problems. I really don't DS> want to take Lasix every day...because that means I have to pee DS> every 5 minutes. I'd be interested to find out too, though admittedly probably not changing too much. Also depends on the composition of the stone -- mine are calcium oxylate. As for coffee, my start was because of a mistake my Mother made. Early evening she'd make instant coffee for herself and Dad, and tea for me. We each had our own distinctive mugs. One night Dad was doing paperwork, so would have his coffee later, and somehow my Mother poured his mug and gave it to me. I knew immediately wan't tea -- "oh drink it anyway" type of comment and that's how I got started on coffee. (Not a mean comment, just more 'well going to drink coffee eventually so may as well get started'.) BM>As the officer eyes suspiciously your 'water on the rocks'! (Water with BM>ice.) Probably no potential issues with water intoxication, just BM>something to be aware of with high intakes. DS> Or, you're using actual rocks, which means you're stoned. As long as those stones aren't from the bladder!! BM>My Hy-Vee (regional grocery store) offers chunks/hunks of watermelon -- BM>half, quarters, smaller. Also offers larger plastic cups (pints, BM>quarts) of bite-sized mixed summer fruits. DS> I need to look for that the next time I'm grocery shopping. We DS> had a 1 hour power outage here earlier today (I wasn't here at DS> the time...I was at a local restaurant for the "mourners meal" DS> after my Mom's funeral, and was notified via my cellphone of the DS> outage. At least the outage wasn't more than that...so, with the DS> icebox doors staying closed, the food shouldn't have been DS> affected. Yes, I've attended post-funeral luncheons. Haven't heard it called a "mourner's meal" but makes sense. The fruit cups might be a good change of pace for breakfast or lunch. I'd probably get a large one and eat a portion as opposed to the snack- sized options which are probably more expensive. ...Or 'splurge' on a small container of pineapple chunks and add that to the large container of fruit. :) ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® ....
