Not so much trying as succeeding, perhaps... ;)  He did pack a lot of
miles into his trip, though.... :)  I wonder if he kept track of how
many miles he actually traveled....?

Pretty much S.O.P.... they do want to make sure there aren't nasty
surprises waiting for them....

You'd need to be in a colony in a very temperate zone with no insects
