Subj : Bird on air conditioner To : Nancy Backus From : Barry Martin Date : Tue Jul 02 2019 15:28:00 Hi Nancy! FWIW July 2 and 75ø with 83% humidity -- weather guy on the TV was saying if you go outside, take a fistful of air and squeeze it you'll make it rain. Supposed to get into the low 90's with a heat index in the low 100's this afternoon. BM>>> Some joke. The good news is you weren't hurt; cars can be replaced; BM>>> dental appointments can be remade. NB>>> The car was fixed, the appointment rescheduled... and I still have a NB>>> scar on my shin from the ice scraper scraping it..but I wasn't badly NB>>> hurt, and lived to tell the tale... BM>> Scars add character! NB>> And memory... :) BM> Like when holding an ice scaper or other item in one's hand in a BM> relaxed position try not to let the item flail too much and rub against BM> one's body? NB> No... the scraper got me as part of that accident... I generally NB> store it beside the gear shifter... The scar reminds me of the NB> accident... Ah! I store mine in the small box of 'snow stuff' on the floorboard of the back seat. BM>>> Yes, if the water table is so high it is at the edge of the hole that BM>>> was made for the basement the water extracted by the sump pump just BM>>> overflows the previously existing water, right into the hole the BM>>> basement is in, for the sump pump to pump that water out and ad BM>>> infinitum. NB>>> Sisyphus pushing the ball endlessly up the hill.... ;) BM>> And for some reason that got me thinking: put a small turbine in the BM>> sump pit: have the water coming in turn the blades, self-powering the BM>> sump...! NB>> Rube Goldberg to the rescue again.... :) BM> I have the feeling that specific project might need a lot of detail BM> work! NB> Probably... and probably more detail than likely to be expended NB> on that in any case..... :) Especially now the sump pump doesn't have any excess water to pool back there! BM>>> The good news is the water must be back down to a more normal level as BM>>> haven't heard/seen the sump pump do it's thing in a couple of days. BM>>> Seems odd as in the past more of a tapering off and this was more a BM>>> sudden end. And no, no 'indoor swimming pool' in the basement! NB>>> Good that it wasn't just the sump giving up.... ;) Maybe the NB>>> water table dropped more quickly than expected....? BM>> Something. Put in a few more of the summer plants around the house: BM>> very top layer is dry and starting to crack but the bottom of the BM>> almost foot-deep hole is moist. so still a lot of water in the ground. NB>> Just have to add in more water-retaining soil/mulch into the upper NB>> layers of soil... Or mulch well once the plants are in.... :) BM> Well there are a few areas where I've suggested placing or adding BM> mulch and so far no. Maybe I'm in for a huge landscaping project next BM> year??!! NB> Maybe you can just surreptitiously mix some into the soil... call NB> it soil-enrichment... :) Hopefully next year's spring will be NB> more conducive to early lawn work... :) Nah: I'd get caught! Sneak-mulched soil would be loosened and seen when watering. And yes, hopefully next year will be a more conducive to getting the various projects done. If not, there's always the following year! ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® ....
