Subj : Note from Daryl Stout To : All From : Barry Martin Date : Fri Jun 21 2019 14:17:00 Hi Folks: Received this note from Daryl: I'm going to likely remain offline with the BBS, and off the air via ham radio until maybe July 8, if not longer. As noted, severe thunderstorms with hurricane force winds blasted through the Little Rock Metro area Wednesday night. The storms ripped the electric meter off the north side of the house, and both it and the interior panel have to be replaced. The insurance company adjustor and inspector is coming by in the morning. But, it'll be at least June 26 before it is approved. The contractor won't start work until they get the go ahead from the insurance company. Yet, damage is so widespread, and the contractor is so swamped with repair calls, that it's likely I'll be without power until maybe July 8, another 2 1/2 weeks. And, it could be longer than that. There are so many displaced people from the storms, that all the hotel rooms are full across much of Arkansas. So, I'm forced to stay in a sauna house with 85 to 90 degree temperatures overnight. I'm lucky to get 6 hours of sleep. I pray I can survive the overnight hours. At least during the day, I can go to an area Subway sandwich shop, to keep cool, get food and drink, recharge the cellphone, and make phone calls. For all those who prefer the hot weather, you need to put yourself in my shoes. I have no power, no air conditioning, and no food at the house until power is restored. Needless to say, the BBS and ham radio traffic nets, are the least of my worries right now.
