Removed the bogus C share and tried again, still no joy. Ditto from the other admin account. Grrrrrrr....... In fact when I went to remove the share and try again, it whined at me that there was still a user connected to it, so it knows it's seen, it just won't share the contents! Nope, didn't work. :/ Actually, "Everyone" was already there. > And here's something from the last post: > > I think it started with Vista - even if you are an administrator you > connect with standard user credentials. Only messed with Vista briefly but lack of normal network access was the first Bad Thing I noticed. > You can change this (and so bypass UAC by connecting using > administrators group authority) by setting > LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy registry key to "1" as described here > > https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/951016/description-of-user- > account-control-and-remote-restrictions-in-windows Nope, didn't help. Further, somewhere along the way WinExplorer lost the ability to see/remember the other PCs -- so now I have to either type in the name or use a shortcut. So it's not caching network names anymore. (Didn't need in 16.04.) Now that I have no idea what you're talking about... The Winders PCs see the PCLOS/KDE box as "Samba-PC" but it won't let them connect. And lately (I think this happened when I installed Timeshift, come to think of it -- this box has otherwise been frozen for almost a year, cuz of kernel and NVidia conflicts I don't want to deal with) it can't see them either. þ RNET 2.10U: ILink: Techware BBS þ Hollywood, Ca þ www.techware2k.com --- QScan/PCB v1.20a / 01-0462 * Origin: ILink: CFBBS | cfbbs.no-ip.com | 856-933-7096 (454:1/1) .
