With regular (not virtual) XP I did have the occasional BSOD; copying 
down then Googling the error code did help be resolve the issue -- well,
that one, then later got a new one. &)  I don't recall having any BSOD 
events with Virtual XP.

Probably so.  Same reasoning when I was working I'd avoid (as best can) 
any major projects during the Holidaze Season: long hours, strange 
hours, social events, etc.  Actually the GUI of Linux (here I use the 
Ubuntu version) is similar to Windows - sometimes the biggest difference
is the Minimize/Maximize/Close buttons are at the upper left instead of
upper right.
