NOT ALL THOSE AURORAS WERE AURORAS: Yesterday's (Jan 1) severe geomagnetic
storm produced widespread Northern Lights as far south as Mexico. However, not
all the lights in the sky were auroras. Many observers photographed red arcs
from a completely difference process.
