COMET TSUCHINSHAN-ATLAS AT PERIHELION: Today, Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS is making
its closest approach to the the sun (perihelion), receiving a boost of heat and
brightness before it approaches Earth in early October. Sky watchers in both
hemispheres can see the comet just before local sunrise. It's an easy target
for binoculars, and some observers say they can see it with the naked eye
despite the rosy glare of dawn.
