Subj : New Guitar Appreciation To : August Abolins From : Barry Martin Date : Tue Jan 24 2023 07:17:00 Hi August AA>> What is AC100? ..or, AC1000? > "AC" is 'Adult Contemporary'; '100' refers to the number of > selections in the playlist. The '1000' was a joke category > as I do not like the same music over and over and over. Yes > I have my favourites but I don't like to hear them > constantly. AA> I don't mind MY selections/playlists over and over again. But I AA> don't always like the repetiveness of what the radio stations do. Right; almost felt sorry for announcer/disk jockey and chief engineer having to listen to the same thing over and over and over again. Let's see: 100 songs at 4 minutes each = 400 minutes, or almost 7 hours. Not quite as bad as I initially thought. ...At least 7 doesn't go into 24 evely -- otherwise they're always starting their shift with the same song! > ...Years ago one of the local FM stations changed format -- > and call signs. The format change was announced but I don't > think the call sign chnage was. Don't recall the timing but > I think the original announcers and music programming were > removed about a week before the switch. What they did was > play "Cool Change" by The Little River Band non-stop!! Nice > song, but after the 487th play gets on one's nerves. > Reason for the song selection was the new call sign was KUUL > (pronounced 'cool'), AA> Sounds like the station DJ thought it was "cool" to have AA> discovered such a song that mimicks the sound of the station AA> callsign - and have the band being domestic too. But yeah.. AA> enuff can be enuff. Not sure there was a station-specific DJ during the change: I think the station staff was terminated; maybe a few shuffled off to other stations in the building (it's a complex of about 8 or 9 stations). AA> I'm rather enjoying my Spotify subscription. I pull complete AA> albums that might interest me and then play then locally AA> (offline) for several repeat listens randomized and give the AA> tunes a chance to be deemed repeat-worthy or not. I have a Pandora account. Sometimes it gets a bit 'repeaty'. Not sure how their grab-a-slection works as there are some selections I have thumbs-up of which I haven't heard in seems like a year and others have been off for months and then suddenly in the playlist. AA> Here is a recent playlist that does not tire me at all: AA> https://open.spotify.com/user/6mhrz90aernzucux1fjas12u9/ AA> playlist/6j0WbPbq9kUPUPJUs7cXVW AA> A short list: 10 songs, at about 42 min. AA> [1] Fear of the Flame, Logan Staats. AA> [2] It All Comes Down to Love, Shawn Mullins AA> [3] Things That Go Bump In The Day, Rodney Crowell AA> [4] Anthem, Father John Misty AA> [5] Deadman, Logan Staats AA> [6] Ignorance Is The Enemy, Rodney Crowell AA> [7] Georgia Moon, Pierce Pettis AA> [8] When It Comes Down To It, Tasmin Archer AA> [9] Somebody's Daughter, Tasmin Archer AA> [10] Hole In My Heart, Piece Pettis My Pandora station probably defies logic! Rodney Crowell does play; right now Dean Martin is crooning. Up next is Brian Setzer, then Nana Mouskouri, then the Doobie Brothers.... ¯ BarryMartin3@ ® ¯ @MyMetronet.NET ® ....
