For a while at the store we were required to thank the customer by name 
at the end of the transaction -- name would display on the register 
terminal.  My customer must have been paying attention as he knew I'd 
have to say his name and would probably have a bit of an issue. 

So...  (Me, something like) And thank you Mister <glance at terminal - 
eyes widen> Pigg?.

(Customer, who had doubtlessly heard the incorrect pronounciation 
before)  It's "Pijz" - a French name -- and gave a brief history of the 
name's history which I've forgotten.  He was somewhat impressed I could 
pronounce it correctly when told how as it's not a sound in English.
