What seems suspicious but isn't?


An aged man sits on an iron throne.

Draped in royal red he signals to his helper with a half-wave of his 
gloved hand.

The helper steps forward, carrying a small child, frozen in fear. The 
child knows better than to struggle, so he goes limp, though his eyes 
dart around the room with panic-fueled vigor. For there is no escaping 
he who sits on the throne.

    "BRING ME THE LITTLE BOY"
    
The man's voice booms as his helper scurries towards the throne. Leaving
the small child, the helper takes slow steps backwards to the line of 
subjects waiting to give their own children to the man in red.

These subjects have gathered, of their own free will, to lovingly give 
their children away. They pass them forward, joyous, overwhelmed, smiles
etched on their faces.

The children cry. But the parents don't notice, or maybe they choose not
to. Little boys, little girls, they all end up the same way. In the 
hands of the man on the iron throne, as he whispers sweet promises of 
pleasure in their ears, and guarantees to come find them when they next 
lay down in bed.

The children will go home with their parents of course, who capture the 
moment in terrifying forever, but there is no escape. Now that the 
connection has been made, he will come for the children, with a 
half-wave of his gloved hand.

Not because he demands it.

But because the subjects insist their own flesh and blood are visited in
the dead of night, as they lay sleeping in bed, by the man draped in 
red, sitting on the iron throne.
