Subj : Todays Blooper To : Daryl Stout From : Barry Martin Date : Thu Nov 19 2020 08:40:00 Hi Daryl! DS> I've wondered if I should have one when I eat out. BM> I think one about the size of what they use at a barber shop should be BM> almost sufficient! DS> For me, yes. :P But, I've been stuck at home for over a week. DS> I've still got food and drink to last a bit, but they're going to DS> be closed the latter part of Thanksgiving Week, so I may be DS> without a car until December. Quick! Sign up for Meals on Wheels! No, not as a recipient, as a driver! Sure, you'll need to do some deliveries to cover your errands! DS> First, if I was pregnant, I'd get a whole lot more than I am on DS> disability. :P BM> Yeah: from child support! DS> Never mind interviews from all the tabloids. Egh! Just have them all via video chat! DS> though, I get into one of those "nothing sounds good" moods. BM> Yes, and I think some of that is just too much in the cupboards rather BM> than a real nutritional craving. I will try to snack realtively BM> healthy, but sometimes that bowl of ice cream is just calling my name!! BM> (And how that ice cream got out of the freezer and into the bowl...!) DS> After the field rats came in just over a year ago (I'm still DS> dealing with those damn critters), I cleared out ALL the DS> cupboards. What food and drink is here is in the DS> refrigerator/freezer. Probably a very smart move: don't know where the rats decided to be a good bathroom. BM> My guess is there is a group selected as potential contestants which BM> serve as the mini-audience. Some of the shows do not have an audience, BM> or barely one (family/friends in isolated clusters) but there is an BM> 'audience track' to make it sound like things are normal. A couple BM> dozen people making all that cheering and clapping? I don't think so! DS> But, with "The Price Is Right", the contestants are from the DS> audience. Yet, with no audience, where are the contestants?? And DS> they aren't social distanced on the game shows...never mind the DS> soap operas. My guess (and it's a guess) is some of the shows were taped before social distancing was required. We have "Family Feud" on twice a day and the 3:00 show is distanced while the 3:30 show is not. Both have an original air date of that date, so the one is not a rerun. As for the 'where are the contestants?' question - I did channel-surf and one game show had an audience seated in separated sections -- something like box seats at a theater. You said one show did not have any audience at all so I'm guessing the contestants were somehow pre- selected and waiting off-stage, somehow isolated. BM> Personally I find the 'audience track' distracting. DS> Just as bad as "the laugh track". Yup. What's 'funny' is one show we watch the 'audience track' always sounded somewhat artificial to me even though there was a large audience present. This season's show, absolutely no audience but that darn audience track is present and to me sounds very much like it did last season. BM> The dachshund was just saying you should be wearing brown shoes! DS> I guess so. Fritz (the one my late wife and I had when we got DS> married) adored me...except for the one night he decided to DS> reassert his role as alpha male, and nearly bit my nose off my DS> face. DS> The dog was ballistic by this point, so she grabbed this high DS> pitch device and the water bottle...pressing it where he DS> definitely heard it, and he got wet...and she yelled "I CAN TAKE DS> IT LONGER THAN YOU CAN, FATSO!!". Yes, a scary episode! Maybe Fritz had a bad dream and that's what set him off, though the two days for him to mellow out seems to contradict that. DS> Just ask Arte Johnson with Ruth Buzzi from Laugh-In. BM> Uh-huh! :) Another show that wouldn't make it now. DS> Arte: Do you believe in the hereafter?? DS> Ruth: Of course I do. DS> Arte: Well, then you know what I'm here after. BM> OK, that one should still work! DS> I'm afraid to try it. :P I double-dog dare ya! ¯ BarryMartin3@ ® ¯ @MyMetronet.NET ® .... Life after death?
