My wife and I saw Jay Black several times, and you are right about his voice.  He was a 
bit crude at times, but very talented.

The "echo" is probably the root of the group harmony style of music.  Thank god for 
that.  Doo-Wop hopefully will never die, even though some of the greats have left us.
