 I like the Arduino or Arduino based boards.  I've played with the Particle
Argon quite a bit.  I like them because they'll access the internet and update
a function as needed.  You can have them send you a text when an event takes
place.  They are accessed and programmed over the internet.  You don't have to
plug a USB cable into it to update the program.
