Subj : Square/Round Dance News To : All From : Daryl Stout Date : Thu Nov 11 2021 05:15:48 Two things of "square dance news": 1) I've updated the subscriber database for the print edition of "The Modern Square", the monthly publication of the Arkansas State Square Dance Federation (ASSDF)...to extend everyone's print subscription expiration by one (1) month. Due to major platform upgrade issues with the company that provides internet and email to Arkansas Printing (who prints the publication), the November, 2021 issue will NOT be printed. Instead, club reports that were in it will be MERGED into the December, 2021 issue. The deadline for items for that is Sunday, November 14, 2021. I plan to release the e-Edition to the ASSDF website (URL noted below) on Monday, November 15, 2021...and send the print edition data files to Arkansas Printing...who says they can print and mail that issue next week. The e-Edition for the November, 2021 issue is already available on the ASSDF website, at: https://www.arkansassquaredance.com/the-modern-square A PDF of the November, 2021 print edition, will be placed at the URL noted above on December 15, 2021...when the January, 2022 issue of the publication is released. This "delay" prevents non-subscribers from acquiring the print edition for nothing, while subscribers are paying $20 per year for it. Note that a merging of club report data is NOT REQUIRED for the e-Edition. The e-Edition is free of charge, while the print edition is $20 per year. One can get a free subscription to the e-Edition by sending an email request with their name and email to assdfmodernsquare@gmail.com -- for the print edition, send a check for $20, payable to ASSDF, to Sheila Gesing, 9760 Grant 7, Sheridan, AR 72150 -- please note "Modern Square Print Subscription" in the memo line on the check. The differences between the print edition and e-Edition are: A) All pictures (unless blurred or duplicates) submitted to the Editor are published in color in the e-Edition. No pictures are published in the print edition. If a rather large number of pictures is submitted (as was the case for the November, 2021 issue), separate files will be placed on the ASSDF website (the URL is noted above). B) Website festival and email links are clickable in the e-Edition. There are no such clickable links in the print edition. C) The e-Edition is free of charge; the print edition is $20 per year. D) The e-Edition is available via email, and on the ASSDF website (URL noted above) around 2 weeks before the print edition arrives in subscriber's mailboxes. 2) The final issue of the Intercom, the newsletter for the now former organization of Single Square Dancers USA (SSDUSA) was received via email yesterday. Due to a lack of people wanting to serve as officers, and groups to host the Labor Day Dance-A-Ramas, the organization disbanded after the 2021 Dance-A-Rama, that was held in Iowa. But, I'm placing the file online for "posterity". The organization was originally started over 50 years ago by Joe Ellis, for square dancers who were single (they had never married, or were either divorced or widowed)...for dances designed for them...although married couples were welcome at the SSDUSA dances. With either Intercom or The Modern Square, a PDF viewer is required.
