Subj : Square/Round Dance News To : All From : Daryl Stout Date : Tue Nov 09 2021 17:31:28 I checked with Mark Pearce of Arkansas Printing in Pine Bluff today (Nov. 9, 2021) as I had not yet seen the print edition of the November, 2021 issue of "The Modern Square", the monthly publication of the Arkansas State Square Dance Federation (ASSDF). I had originally emailed it and its database to the printer on Oct. 17, 2021. Their email and internet client out of Little Rock had a major platform change, which diverted a large amount of email, files, etc. to a rarely used account...and it was just discovered upon research today. The ASSDF was NOT the only organization affected by this change. Since it is well into the month of November, and considering that it takes 5 to 10 days to print, mail, and deliver an issue, I told them to not worry about preparing the November, 2021 print edition. I have sent an email to ASSDF Presidents Ted and Tonia Hofmeister, and to ASSDF Treasurers Rick and Sheila Gesing, to find out the next steps...as I have to do several things, including: 1) Sending out a an email blast, and a note on the Twitter feed about what happened. 2) Extending everyone's print subscription one month. 3) Combining reports for the December, 2021 issue (does that include club reports and officer reports??). 4) Placing the PDF of the November, 2021 print edition on the website (since it won't be printed or mailed) earlier than usual (normally, I would wait until mid-December to do that)...but folks who don't have email, a computer, or internet access, won't be able to get it...never mind not being able to print a copy. So Ted, Tonia, Rick, and Sheila, have to advise me on what to put in the email blast, on Twitter, and possibly the ASSDF website as well. In that regard, this means a lot of unanticipated extra work for me as Editor, Webmaster, and Circulation Chairman. However, after tonight (Nov. 9, 2021), I will likely NOT be able to check email until late this week or during the upcoming weekend...let alone do this work, because of two items: A) Entergy Arkansas is to do work in the area on their power lines, so I will not have power or internet for a few hours on Nov. 10. B) Thunderstorms move in that evening, and are forecast to last well into Thursday. So, I will have the computers (both for the BBS, and for the ham radio and square dance items) turned off and unplugged. The e-Edition for the November, 2021 issue is already available on the ASSDF website, at: https://www.arkansassquaredance.com/the-modern-square I will post an updated message once I hear from the ASSDF officers.
