Subj : No Drinky And No Stinky To : All From : Daryl Stout Date : Tue Jun 28 2022 00:03:48 On a personal note, when I started Square Dancing in 1985, my caller told us this the first night of classes, and I still strongly believe it. I would expect both enforcement of PROPER SQUARE DANCE ATTIRE, and of NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES BEFORE OR DURING A SQUARE DANCE. The definition of proper square dance attire is listed elsewhere in this message thread...and you obviously don't need to have your faculties impaired by alcohol while you're dancing. If you do not wish to dance any further that day/evening, then it's your choice if you wish to drink, as there are usuallly several restaurants that serve beer, wine, etc. around the area. And, with all the people moving around in a room, combined with warm summer weather, you're going to perspire to keep cool...and basically, if you don't take a bath or shower, using soap and deodorant before coming to the dance, everyone will know it. There is nothing more disconcerting to fellow dancers than to have to deal with a dancer in their square with body odor, and/or bad breath. Those who choose to smoke will most likely be requested to go to special areas, or outside. Many of the restaurants may also have areas designated for smokers. If you have a problem with bad breath, please consider using breath mints. Your fellow dancers will appreciate your cooperation in these areas. --- SBBSecho 3.15-Win32 * Origin: The Thunderbolt BBS - Little Rock, Arkansas (954:895/7) .
