It is very handy for times like this. You can also look up the Wine compatibility database to check if a program runs at all, or runs badly, or runs perfect, and see if any adjustement to the default configuration needs to be made. That said, usually it is just better to pick a native tool instead of keeping trying to use old Windows tools.
