Why the aunt did? I haven't really given it much thought. Off the cuff, I
think I probably assumed it was to get her sister's blessing about the new
relationship with the child.  Or possibly the uncle supernaturally beckoned
her? There was a limited release here, so I've only seen it once. I am
certain that as soon as it's available in the home, my wife will quickly
remedy it. There was A LOT going on in the meteor world that I only half
understood, and a lot to desect because it seems to be a metaphor not only
for miyazaki and his life, but for Japan and it's 'relationship' with World
War II as well. <- This is a lot of philosophizing happening over a cartoon.
