I think there was some discussion of using Scott Bakula's Sam Beckett 
character, but the studio/showrunners decided not to do so.  But who 
knows in the future.

They also slightly changed the way things work.. there's no longer the 
other person sitting in Sam's body in the "waiting room" which is a 
minor functional change from the original, but given how the OG series 
ended, who knows on that too.

The "other leaper" at the end of the last episode was interesting, 
curious to see where that goes.
