Exactly my point in my post.. He's not dead, they are definitely leaving the door open for him to make a cameo somewhere.. Especially since the last episode proved my point even more when they said Dr Ben Song is leaping into times NOT in his lifetime. Thus this gives him a chance to go back to the lifetime of Sam Beckett to find him.. Plus now that Al's Daughter looks to have her own Imaging chamber, she too will probably be able to jump at some point.. This show is starting to get more and more intricate...
