One of the You Tube fan shows (Star Trek: New Voyages?) had an episode
with a storyline where the younger Sulu actor gets caught in a time
loop and comes out 30 years later, played by a feral looking George
Takei. The last scene is a set on the Excelsior with Sulu as captain
and with Grace Lee Whitney playing Rand.

Nicely done.
