OMG!!!! I am so OVER people asking this question. Just proves they don't know the first things about the shows OR the universe!

The Bajoran wormhole goes between the Alpha and Delta quadrants. Voyager was stuck in the GAMMA quadrant!  Was a shorter flight back to the Alpha Quadrant then to have gone to Delta to get to Alpha!
