I watched the first episode this week. Started out kinda cheesy (I didn't
read the books) but instantly felt like it was firmly in the LoTR shadow,
not in a good way, plus a 100 other fantasy books/tropes about The Chosen
One, the Hero Reborn, etc. Overalls FX was super CG and corny at times,
Trollocs or whatever they were were kind of laughable with practical
effects. some stuff (like the opening ritual of falling in the water)
just didn't make sense.

BUT it sort of grew on me by the end. Gets really bloody and violent and
the magic is fun. Despite first impressions, I'm gonna watch the next
episode :)
