The closest I ever got was being able to walk onto a couple of sets back in 
the mid-80s. I visited a friend who worked in casting at the time.

Being on the set you'd seen on TV was a kick.

I also got to be an audience member on a game show, another singular 
experience of my time in LA.

It ended with staying with friends and watching an advance copy of "the 
pilot for a TV show you'll hear about in a couple of months". That was Twin 
Peaks.
