The local recycler told us that (for them, at least) there was a benefit from
the gov't for getting rid of CRTs (both in money and not having to handle
certain "hazardous materials"), but that benefit had a time limit.

That's my my local Goodwills would take old TVs for a while, then put up a sign
telling people that was ending, and now will not take CRTs anymore.

Most of mine are small and/or portable.  But items with the larger CRTs need to
have a permanent desk space.  The others can be stored on a shelf until I want
to play with them.
