Same battery style as the old AT batteries?  Also had a few 286's with
previously leaked batteries... used to was them off as far as possible and
rinse with ammonia to neutralise anything left.

The battery in the IIgs, was meant to last "forever". The power consumption
of the board during power down was meant to be less than the shelf
dissipation of charge, the result was an expected 10-12 year life span, but
they were falling over after about 5 years.. and subsequently are noted for
leaking.
