Yep, that's a kick in the rear end. Had it happen to many times to count.

Yes, prices back then could go high, but nothing like what's going on
now. I've watched auctions go really high for even broken/non working
gear.

In a lot of caaes the chips are ok, or it's a part that can be still
sourced, then it's just a matter of transplanting them.
