Hmm, as Token-Ring had 16 MBit/s and Ethernet had 10 MBit/s, at least the nominal speed was higher. And I remember that copying files between my Linux machines really was fast and made use of that speed in my TR network. So it really outperformed a 10 MBit/s Ethernet network...
