How did they do this? Maybe someone invited you to FB? At any rate, this does
not compel your participation any more than junk mail circulars with your
name and address on them compel you to read them or buy the things advertized
in them.

It is nevertheless your choice whether or not to participate. It sounds like
you declined. There are certainly consequences to that decision, just as
there are consequences to a decision to participate. Everyone else has the
same decision, too.
