Telemate ended up being my favorite comm program in the 90s.  I've occasionally used it in DOSBox with modem emulation, and indeed, it seems to do a good job of rendering ANSI even today.

I was disappointed to see issues with Telix in DOSBox with modem emulation, as Telix was another favorite comm program of mine.
