Nortel started with their own chips. I was one of the first sites on the west coast to use one of their systems with a motorola CPU. They went up to a 68040, then went Intel. Instead of designing on bare iron, they ended up porting their environment to a series of applications and ran it under VxWorks. If they didn't go belly-up, they could have done great things. Their SIP stuff was pretty great, I ended up networking 3 sites using SIP over my data network and retired an old MPLS network we had been using. --- SBBSecho 3.23-Win32 * Origin: realitycheckBBS.org -- information is power.
