I remember before 1995 (before Win95), taht BBSs were a common thing, and there was a sort "collective concious" of using BBSs to connect with others, I remember news paper articles about FIDOnet and how that could get you in touch with anyone anywhere in the world, but it wasn't until 1995 (and Win95, indeed...) with IExplroer preinstalled, and the browser war it ensued that *web browsing* (!!) really became something most people became aware of.
