There was a reference back in the day that mapped the various versions. I think it listed some 150+ majopr varieties. It was annoying when subsequent releases depreciated some function or feature that your programs depended upon. Downside of an interpreted enviornment, compared to a compiled environment where once compiled there was less issues, that is until something machine level was changed....
