 My co-sysop in the '90s worked for a company that sold third-party disk
 compression software - he saw Microsoft in action playing foul -
 stalling until they'd released DoubleSpace.

 His company partnered with Digital Research, and they saw the issues
 DR-DOS had with Windows first-hand.
