Unlike a compact cassette the tapes are only held on by friction so they just unspooled and wrapped around the drive spool. BW> That sounds useful but I have so many questions... Does that amount of tape reuse throw muck all over the end of tape BW> sensor? ;) It threw out a message saying it was recovering the file from the tape sans any kind of time. For what it was it was reasonably quick, a bit slow getting itself lined up for random access but the transfer was quick enough to not be a big issue. And no, it didn't seem to worry the drive at all. Did it add to the drives early exit for the pearly gates one backup cycle... maybe.. but not noticably. I was only ever woken up by the BBS for about the first 3 days. I left the monitor on, ATM1 all the bells and whistles. After three days, being an apprentice that needed to get to work for 7am I turned it all off and got some more sleep. :) Spec *** THE READER V4.50 [freeware] --- SuperBBS v1.17-3 (Eval) * Origin: A camel is a horse designed by a committee.
