Yep. Emulation is definitely an option. For me, personally, the appeal of
'real' hardware is that it locks you into whatever it is you're doing. With
emulators, the modern world is just an alt-tab away. (Granted, that's not
much different than scooting my chair across the office to the modern, but I
find that less distracting...)
