Subj : Start old pc for the first time - what to look out for? To : All From : dozo Date : Fri Jan 20 2023 08:00:51 Greetings all, I dug up an old pc from our storage unit tonight, which has been in storage for 25 years, may be longer. I was sure it was my 386, but now that I took the cover off, it looks like it's an early Pentium. Good thing I bought a tested 386 board a few weeks ago :) My question is: what should I pay attention to when first booting a pc this old? Would I check all the capacitors on the board and in the PSU? Should I open up the PSU? Any advice is appreciated :) Regards, dozo --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A46 2020/08/26 (Linux/64) * Origin: Al's Geek Lab -=- bbs.alsgeeklab.com:2323 (21:1/126) .
