I took the same DX40 and tried installing Win95 on it, when it arrived... it
did manage... I didn't seriously use for that at all though... I think it was
absolutely minimum spec for it at the time.

All the linux systems I had primarily got used for SAMBA, and router duties
in a headless setup.  So there was no playing doom on it... although we did
have some mini LAN parties with some of the guys from work.
