The traffic in/around the downtown area is horrible.  I left there 
almost exactly 20 years ago, and it was bad even then.  Most of my time 
there was not in Seattle "proper", it was across the Puget Sound in 
Kitsap county.  That area was quite nice for the most part, especially 
if you're into outdoor stuff like biking, fishing, hiking.  Not sure I 
could live there any more with the way the politics there has gone over 
the cliff.  The downtown area now looks like a war zone, with tents, 
homeless, drug addicts laying all around.  Needles and human waste all 
over the ground.  It has to be seen to be believed.  I mostly enjoyed my 
time there, but would never go back now.
